"It is an added value for Porto, because Madeira's gastronomy is unique and there is no other [Madeiran] restaurant in the city."

Madeiran gastronomy has tropical influences because it is closely linked to fruits, ranging from meat to fish and seafood. In an unusual combination, from food presentation to an explosion of bittersweet textures and tastes.

Most of the customers are from Madeira who are currently living in mainland Portugal, Dilia says that "Madeirans are proud of anything [from Madeira] in Porto." In addition, of course, foreign and Portuguese tourists, who are curious to experience the flavours from the island.

"Our goal is to spread our traditions, our food and our island."

The products used are of guaranteed quality and come all the way from the island, including traditional drinks such as Brisa de Maracujá, Laranjada, Coral beer, Ponche and Madeira Wine. All for a complete and authentic Madeiran meal. Dilia reiterates: "We want our customers to have a true experience!".

Bolo do Caco, grilled limpets and fish soup are the most requested starters, and swordfish with banana and passion fruit sauce as well as tuna steak are typical main dishes frequently ordered in the restaurant, accompanied with vegetables, chips or the traditional Milho Frito. "Every dish is a trip", confirms Dilia. At Madeira Taste you can also find other products from the island, such as Bolo de Mel, sugar cane aguardente, liqueurs and regional handicrafts.

"We encourage our customers to try out our [traditional] things to mark them by difference."
