The BAOS arrived in Porto and came to stay

Don't know what baos are? Know that a new typical asian specialty has arrived in Porto: the steamed japanese breads.

The space where you can eat these mini-sandwiches is called Bao's - Taiwanese Burger and opened in May at Rua de Cedofeita. The baos exist in this space in six different varieties, all of them from € 3.90.

Tofu Bao - Taiwanese Burger with Fried Tofu - 4€

According to John Winck, 27, chef responsible for the project, most of the ingredients come from Taiwan. Still, Winck has already made it known that the goal is to try to find some bakeries that can, at a later stage, serve the homemade breads.

Crab Bao - Taiwanese Burger with Crunchy Crab - 6,50€

You can also find in this place other typically taiwanese dishes such as rice bowls: Lu Rou Fan with braised pork belly and cured yolk, among other ingredients, and 3 Cup Chicken, with chicken and chili.

The space also has cassava chips (€ 3), french fries with cheese and caramelized onions (€ 3.50), salted caramel pie (€ 3) or shaved ice cream cup prepared in a special machine (€ 7) among others.

Pulled Pork Bao - Taiwanese Burger with Shagged Pork Leg - 3,90€

From now on it is also possible to order Bao's Bo Ssäm, pork shank cooked for 12 hours - yes, you read well -, white rice bowls, lettuce leaves and sauces. It has a cost of € 90 and is a meal that gives for 6-10 people. However, this dish needs to be ordered 24 hours in advance.

Gua Bao - Taiwanese Burger with Low Temperature Cooked Pork Belly - 3,90€

Served in disposable packaging, you can also choose to take it to any part of the city.
