There is plenty of Port wine to taste at Port Wine day
The Port Wine day begins on September 1st and runs until September 10. The Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto has prepared a program of activities entirely dedicated to this nectar.
To celebrate Porto International Wine Day, instituted on September 10, the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto has organized the Port Wine day every year since 2014.
The event that brings journalists from all over the world to Oporto and brings together the best producers of Oporto wine has been growing, consolidating not only with the specialized sector but also in the non-specialized sector.
During the celebrations, on the 10th, in the morning, there will be a masterclass called "A Flight of the Sixties" at the Six Senses Douro Hotel, where some of the best wines of this decade will be tasted and in the afternoon a trip on the historic train The Presidential. Here, a chef with Michelin star will prepare and serve lunch, which will be harmonized with Port and Douro wines. Two activities restricted to the guests of the Port Wine day.
The day will end with a sunset party at Jardim das Oliveiras, in Oporto, with entrance open to the general public. The Port Wine Day Sunset Party will feature music, animation and many surprises around Port Wine.
From the 1st to the 10th of September, you will be able to know the gastronomy route of the event and try a special dish served with port wine. Also the Port Wine companies, in partnership with restaurants, will promote wine dinners on September 7, with a special menu, entirely inspired and harmonized with Port Wine.
The Port Wine cellars also celebrate the Port Wine day with a calendar of special activities, some with discounts, free visits and wine tastings. The Port Wine festival extends, finally, to a route of bars in the Downtown of the city that will serve a special cocktail with Port Wine.
