Porto elected European Best Destination 2017
For the third time, after winning in 2012 and 2014, Porto received the title of best European destination 2017. In the race were 20 European cities, including Vienna, London, Berlin, Athens, or Prague, but it in the end Porto won.
It was not exactly a surprise, much aided by the intense “Vote Porto” campaign that, throughout January, used several local personalities to appeal to the vote in the city. However, this year the votes of foreign tourists would have been sufficient to elect the city as the best European destination.
The initiative promoted by the European Best Destinations portal, which in partnership with the European Commission promotes tourism on the continent, has never been so popular. With this new seal of quality, the expectation grows for the year 2017, since 2016 was the best year ever for tourism in Porto.
