3 wineries you must visit in Douro

Porto is a city not only gastronomic, if not also a wine region. In 2016, Portugal was recognized as one of the best countries for production and culture of wine by the institute Wine Spectator.

There is no question that the city of Porto, situated alongside the river Douro, has an ideal land for wine production. Porto Tasty recommends visiting the city's wineries.

You can travel along the river Douro by boat and disembark at some of the most emblematic places that produce the Port and Douro Wine.

Quinta do Vallado

At Quinta do Portal is located Casa das Pipas, where you can enjoy not only the mountains of the Douro, but also the elaboration of Douro, Port and Moscatel wines. This touristic complex is located in one of the tributaries of the Douro: the Pinhão river. The architect Álvaro Siza (Pritzker prize 1992) was in charge of designing a house around the vineyards. We invite you to try the Bacalhau Assado & Portal that the Chef Milton Ferreira elaborates in this property. Matching with one of Port's wine produced there: Fine White. A gold medal awarded wine.
